winter street

Did this while doing laundry in Springfield, IL in the north end of town sometime around 2003. Picked it up this year to see how far I could take it with color, specifically how varied I could make the houses without making them look like a plastic Playschool set. Added the purple sky to really make you feel how cold it was.

10 1/4 x 6 3/8 inches, watercolor pencil on printed copy of ballpoint original done on-site, 2019. Print is a matted, mounted, signed 600 dpi color print on white acid-free cardstock with half-inch borders, in a limited edition run of fifty. I only use permanent, pigment-based HP inks, which meet the ISO 11798 fade-resistance standard.

One of my laundromat sketches from Springfield, Illinois, done around 2003 with a ballpoint pen. Tried to make sloppiness a virtue here, with more attention given to balancing out shapes than to two point perspective or razor-straight lines. Added the color in 2019 to accent rather than take over the composition.
