Sketched this with a dipping pen looking out the deck window onto Lake Cumberland, sometime around 2007. The Lake was somewhat drained in order to allow for repairs to the Wolf Creek dam (you can see the exposed land as a brown strip beneath the trees on the far shore). Chose it among a handful of old drawings on which to force myself to use more color. Coloring here reminds me a bit of what you’d find in comic books in the eighties, perhaps because the lines are also evocative of that type of work.
10 x 6 1/2 inches, watercolor pencil on printed copy of dipping pen original, done on-site, 2019. Print is a matted, nounted, signed 600 dpi color print on white acid-free cardstock with half-inch borders, in a limited run of fifty. I only use permanent, pigment-based HP ink which meets the ISO 11798 fade-resistance standard.
